Welcome to Class 6

Welcome to Class 6

Class team: Mrs McLoughlin (Class teacher), Miss White (TA), Mrs Gould (TA) & Mr McLoughlin

I hope you have had a wonderful summer, and I look forward to meeting you at the parent/teacher meet-and-greet session in the Autumn term.

This session will take place on 24h September at 3.45pm and will give me the chance to formally introduce myself and inform you of all of the systems and

procedures that take place in class 6.

Before then, I will make sure that I communicate all important information to you in the form of newsletters or timetables.

News about your child’s day, and the lessons and activities they have taken part in, will be communicated in the Home/School books or in the week-ahead letters.  Please feel free to make any comments about what your child is doing at home; any fun days out, significant achievements or any messages you may have for me, either in the Home/School books or through the office.

Take a look below and see what we've been up to!

World Book Day 2020!

Spanish Food Tasting

To start our new topic, we explored a range of Spanish Food.  The children really liked the bread and fake Sangria but were not so keen on the olives!

Christmas in Class 6

We went to Bents garden centre and saw Santa and had a snack in the café.

For our Spanish topic, we decorated a log (Tia de Nadal) and hit it with a stick before we went home.  When we came into school the next day, the log had ‘pooped’ sweets!

We had lots of fun at our school Christmas lunch.

Santa came to visit us and gave everyone a present.

Panto!!

The children in lower school and some upper school classes all watched a Pantomime in the week before Christmas.  It was lots of fun and the children enjoyed participating in the hilarity (so did the staff!).

English

In class 6, we enjoy working in a pair to complete challenges and investigations.

Numeracy

Pupils work well on their math's problems.  They use a range of strategies and techniques to help them.

Science

We explored different materials in science as part of our topic.  We looked at dough, slime and gunge!

Making a Sandwich

We all made a jam sandwich and developed skills of independence, spreading, cutting and hygiene practices.

Bread Tasting

We all tasted a range of bread in our Food Technology lesson, linked to our Sandwich topic.  We tasted the bread, talked about the bread and then rated and described.

Forest School

Class 6 took part in Forest School with Mrs Jupp in the Autumn term.  They enjoyed a large range of activities including den building, cooking over an open fire, making bird feeders, toasting marshmallows and creating sculptures.
