English
We have been learning about Traditional Tales in our English lessons. We have read ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We have explored the different tales and learned about their similarities. We have used story sequencing, drama and character exploration to find out more about the stories.
Forest School
In Forest School, we have been exploring the season of Autumn. We have had lots of different activities in the Forest, such as musical instruments, yoga, fairy tea parties, the hammock swing, collecting leaves and many more. We have been learning about how to stay safe around the firepit and we have all had turns at roasting marshmallows!
Autumn 1
History
Our history topic this term is Mount Vesuvius. We created our own model volcano as a class; we all participated in constructing and decorating the volcano, as well as collecting natural materials to make the model more realistic. We watched together as the volcano exploded and used this to help us understand what happened to Mount Vesuvius. We also learned about ‘The Lost City of Pompeii’, we pretended to be archaeologists to help us understand how Pompeii was rediscovered.
Autumn 1
Art
In Art, we have been learning about Indian arts and crafts. We have created our own Rangoli art, both individually and as a class. We have used different resources, including crushed chalk, coloured salt, glitter glue and paint. We also explored Rangoli art in our Forest School sessions and created a whole class Rangoli design, using natural materials.

Poppy Class have been learning about nonsense poems this term. We have really enjoyed ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’ and ‘The Quangle Wangle’s Hat’. We have explored the poems through song, musical instruments, crafts and sensory activities. We identified nonsense words in the poems and created our own nonsense sentences.

Geography
In geography, we have been learning all about Warrington. We used Google Maps to explore Warrington and compare our town to other towns and cities. We were excited to discuss the places we have been in Warrington and which places are our favourite. We all enjoy visiting different parks in Warrington, so we decided to visit Woolston Park for an explore and a play!
Autumn 2
Science
This term we have been learning about where animals live. We have explored different habitats through online research and sensory play. We learnt what different animals need to survive and matched the animals to their habitats. We went on a class trip to Chester Zoo to see where animals live and what some habitats look like. Our favourite animals were the penguins and the monkeys!
