Green Lane have entered Manchester City Schools Ability Counts League for the first time, with all matches played at Manchester City’s Training Complex. The league, which has been established for five years is run over the school year and consists of teams from schools across Greater Manchester.

Green Lane got off to a shaky start being narrowly beaten 1-0 by Piper Hill.  However by the time the second fixture started the nerves had gone and the team got down to playing some fantastic football. Over the course of the day the results were as follows.

Green Lane       4 V 1     St John Viani (b)

Green Lane       4 V 0    The Grange

Green Lane       6 V 0    Samual Laycocks

Green Lane       4 V 0    North Ridge

Following the impressive performances the director of the league asked if Green Lane would like to play a friendly against a team from the league above them. This turned out to be the best football the team played all day beating St John Viani (a) 3 -0.

The team were a credit to the school and their performance as a team and as sportsmen was first class.
