We are a Key Stage 3 class of 8 pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9.
The staff are Mrs Van Rooy (teacher), Miss Beechall, Miss Baddeley
In Hedgehog class we follow a topic based curriculum which links in with most subject areas, making the curriculum engaging and immersive. We have a different topic each term. We also take part in regular phonics, fine motor skills, handwriting and reading sessions several times a week.
We will be going shopping every 2 weeks to buy our class snack, developing our independence skills and use our money skills in a practical setting. This will be on a Tuesday morning and will start as soon as we can, after a short transition period. On the weeks that we are not out shopping in the community, we will be holding our own class ‘cafe’ where the students will take on a variety of roles, such as waiter, chef and cleaner. Our afternoon snack time usually consists of fruit and other healthy options and is an opportunity to develop social and independence skills. We ask for a voluntary donation of £2 each week to cover the cost of this.
PE is on a Thursday afternoon with Miss Rodgers. Please can students come into school wearing appropriate PE kit on a Thursday.
Each student in Hedgehog class will be given a home school book which is a way of communicating any important messages between home and school. There will also be weekly homework sent home on a Friday to be returned on a Monday.
Please use the Evidence for learning app to see what our students get up to each week in school!
We look forward to having an exciting year!
