Spring Term

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year of the snake by making snakes using chain links to make a body and stuck on a snake head to complete the activity. We tried some Chinese foods such as noodles and a stir fry. Some of us loved it, others were not so keen. We had lots of fun experimenting with the different textures and smells.

Food Tech

We have had lots of fun this half term decorating and making biscuits. We loved eating what we had made. Some biscuits didn’t make it to decorating stage as they were too yummy to resist.

Forest School

The fun we have had in our forest school sessions is immeasurable. We have enjoyed cooking snacks on the camp fire, swinging in the hammock, pouring water through tubes, mixing and digging for different items and making food for the birds that visited our forest. Most of all we loved learning outside and spending time with Mrs Williams who spent lots of time making such exciting activities for us.

History

This half term we have been learning about our personal history, looking at our family and friends. We made a friendship tree using our finger tips in paint to make blossom on the tree and added photo’s of our friends to make it special.

Maths

We have been investigating measurement this half term in Maths. We have looked at big and small, tall and short and heavy and light. We loved using balancing scales to see if we could get them to tip over. When we had our special visitors we measured ourselves to see how tall we were and weighed ourselves using scales. It has all been so much fun.

Music

We love music in Rose Class. Mr Higham brings lots of instruments for us to use. We love to use the chimes, and strum on his guitar. Sometimes we might sing along with some of our favourite songs.

Paramedic Visit

We had a special visit from Mike a paramedic. He was funny and let us explore the things he uses in his job. We tried on his high vis jacket and helmet. We looked at a body that he uses to train people on how to give CPR and we used his torch and thermometer to have fun.

PE

Finn from the Wolves Foundation is amazing, he makes our PE sessions so much fun. This half term we have be trying gymnastics, we enjoyed using the balancing beams with support and some of us managed it on our own.

RE

In history we have been learning about personal history and family life. We linked this to RE and had a baptism of a baby. We enjoyed making an alter together and pouring water over the baby’s head.

Mr Sykes got very wet and so did the carpet.
